New Zealand Horticultural Exports

Plant & Food Research NZ recently published their 20th edition of Fresh Facts which contains some very interesting data for the year ended 30 June 2018.

Some of the key points are:

  • Produce from the New Zealand horticultural sector exceeded $9.2 billion in the year to 30 June 2018.
  • The total value of horticultural exports was $5.47 billion in 2018, up from $5.23 billion in 2017.
  • The biggest horticultural export was kiwifruit at $1.86 billion with wine closely following at $1.69 billion. Other key exports were apples ($732.9 million) and potatoes ($114.9 million).
